Principal and Creative Director
Stephen Viksjo is the Principal and Creative Director of Vixjo Design, Inc., the graphic design studio that he founded in 2008. The studio specializes in clean, thoughtful, and streamlined branding and graphic design solutions for print and web. We are based in both New York City and the Hudson Valley, but we work with clients located across the United States and abroad.
We aim to share our love of design with our clients by creating a process that is creative, productive, and efficient. We remove stress from the workflow by remaining mindful of the budget, timeline, and goals. We keep an open channel of communication with our clients who regularly become our friends. We believe that design is fun, each project should be inspired by its goals, and it should never feel like work.
Vixjo Design Inc. is fortunate to work with many creative individuals and organizations in fashion, arts, non-profits, and private businesses. Clients include Marc Jacobs, Ralph Lauren, Baryshnikov Arts Center, New York Philharmonic, Columbia University Medical Center, Asian Cultural Council, Bridgehampton Chamber Music Festival, Dance Heginbotham, Lenox Hill Neighborhood House, Helen Keller International, and many others. We work with many startups, small businesses, and non-profits. We love stretching budgets in creative ways to maximize results that are complete, smart, and memorable.
Stephen also offers design + branding consulting to large and small businesses and organizations for a variety of services including: guidance and portfolio critique for vetting candidates for in-house creative positions; aid in drafting RFP's for design and branding projects as well as guidance in evaluating and critiquing proposals submitted by design studios; idea and concept development and design problem solving to understand how design will aid business development and growth; aid in communicating organization vision, feedback, and goals in a clear and efficient way to reduce wasteful back and forth when working on a large project with a third-party design studio; and brand health evaluations to determine a brand's overall strengths, weaknesses, and areas for improvement while outlining a direction and prescription for achieving necessary changes and growth.
Stephen benefitted from a diverse set of design, management, and business experiences before launching Vixjo Design, Inc. He has worked in editorial design, entertainment advertising, as a graphic designer in the design studio at Carnegie Hall, and as the design director at Manhattan School of Music.
Stephen has a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Communication Design from Parsons School of Design in NYC.
